Hey there! 

 

My name is Emily. I am a hairstylist that specializes in hair extensions and lived-in color. I'm also co-owner of West Oak Salon, a high end hair salon located in the heart of Canal Winchester, Ohio.

How Did I Get Here?

I've had a passion for the beauty industry ever since I was a little girl. My mom got sick of buying me Barbie dolls just for me to cut their hair off and 'color' it with nail polish. As I grew up, I decided to make a career out of it. I came into the industry at a young 18 years old when I started cosmetology school at Paul Mitchell The School Columbus, but back then it was actually called "The Ohio Academy". Throughout school, I worked as a receptionist at a salon and learned the behind the scenes of salon life. After graduation, I moved from behind the desk to behind the chair and worked as a commission stylist for about a year before I decided that I wanted to be my own boss. I moved on to the booth renting life, working in a loft and getting a taste of business ownership. From there, my business partners and I started discussing opening our own salon. One thing led to another, and West Oak Salon was born. I'm now 29 years old with a decade of experience in the industry, more than half of those years having been a business owner.

Extensions

Obviously, being a hairstylist for the entirety of my adult life, I love what I do. About six years ago, I fell in love with my career all over again when I heard about beaded weft extensions. I had been certified in other methods before, but nothing really struck me as career changing until I took a class in Cleveland and learned my first beaded weft method. My entire mindset on both hair and business changed. Nothing rekindled my passion quite like these extensions did. Therefore, I decided to shift my focus behind the chair to specialize in hand-tied beaded weft extensions. I have now been certified in multiple methods and use my knowledge to cater to each client's individual needs to help them achieve the hair of their dreams.

Beyond The Salon

When it comes to out-of-office life, I tend to keep myself just as busy as I do behind the chair. I love spending time having movie nights with my family, drinking spicy margs with my friends, and hanging out with the loves of my life: my dogs, Nash and Nellie.

A few fun facts about me:

I'm full of dramatics and sarcasm. I love my iced lattes with oat milk. I enjoy staying in with wine and Chinese food just as much, if not more, than going out on a weekend. I love anything having to do with the tv show Friends. In the summertime, I'm a sucker for an outdoor country concert. 

​
